Important Information

Deposit upon admission to the Summer Internship Program
If you are selected as an intern, a $200.00 deposit is required to reserve a place in the CAPA-CEF Intern Class of 2021. This deposit is not a fee. It will be refunded to each intern upon the successful completion of the internship program and graduation OR in the event CAPA-CEF is unable to arrange an internship placement for you.

Refunds will be issued via check to the applicant/participant and mailed to the address we have on record.

If an applicant/participant voluntarily withdraws from the CAPA-CEF internship at any time during the program (before completion and graduation), the deposit will be forfeited.

Time Commitment
CAPA-CEF Interns must be available during business hours normally Monday-Friday from 8am – 5pm. Note that each office will have their own schedules as needed. Your internship begins in early June (when school is out for summer break) through mid-August. IF A CAPA-CEF INTERN IS UNABLE TO MEET THESE TIME REQUIREMENTS, THEY WILL BE INELIGIBLE FOR THE PROGRAM.

• Transportation
Students interns must be able to travel to different locations/counties they are assigned to. Student Interns are responsible for their own transportation.

Requirements

Accepted Interns Orientation/Training Day – TBD
All interns must participate in orientation and training. These sessions are designed to introduce interns to the workings of government and prepare for the workplace. In addition, interns will be given their presentation assignment (see below) and have the opportunity to begin brainstorming in a team environment.

100 working hours in the office placement* – June through August
Working hours are typically flexible, and are scheduled with the intern’s office placement. To get the most out of the program, working hours should be distributed over approximately 10 weeks during the course of the summer, rather than concentrated within 2-3 weeks. These hours must be completed by August 31, 2018. Timesheets must be signed off by the office supervisor and submitted to us.

10 community service hours* – June through August
Community service hours can be completed with any community organization. Interns must submit completed hours, signed off by their supervisor.  Timesheets must be submitted in order verify hours.

Intern Graduation – TBD

It is advisable and encouraged that you refrain from completing your required internship hours over the full summer period and not compress them within a couple weeks. This is to receive the maximum experience that our program offers as well as the flexibility you need to complete all requirements in addition to the office’s final decision on your work schedule. Please advise us if this is a problem during the interviews.  This includes other internships, vacations, job commitments and other events.
